When he’s not busy being a huge Tumblr star or menacing Captain Kirk in “Star Trek” or looking like an otter, Benedict Cumberbatch is apparently available for weddings.
The “Sherlock” star flew to Spain this weekend, where he officiated at the wedding of two of his friends, Seth Cummings and Rob Ridner, on the sunny cliffs of Ibiza.
“Of course, I’m going to make a joke after it, ‘I do weddings. Next will be children’s parties and bat mitzvahs,’ if it goes well. It’s a mainly Jewish and gay audience, so hopefully they will be lenient towards me,” Benedict kidded to Vulture beforehand.
Why should that be a joke? A bat mitzvah party presided over by DJ Cumberbatch would be the greatest bat mitzvah of all time. Mine just had an ice cream sundae bar.
J.J. Abrams was on “Conan” recently, where he admitted that “Star Trek Into Darkness” star Alice Eve’s underwear scene could have been better handled. he insists, though, that the film’s production team are actually equal opportunity pervs.
“To me it’s a sort of balance,” he said, pointing out that Captain Kirk also appears shirtless in the film. What’s more, he actually filmed a scene of Benedict, who plays the villain, in the shower, though it didn’t make it into the final cut of the movie.
